A Week in Dublin
08-12-2025 I'm currently sitting at my son’s dining room table, writing this blog. While I'm delighted to be back in the USA, I find myself missing Ireland. I had a fun and busy final week in Dublin. On Sunday, I missed attending Marantha Community Church, but I did go to St. Mark's St Mark's Church Dublin Church, an evangelical congregation that was kicking off its Advent services. The theme for their Advent was "Adore," and if the first service is any indication, they are i

Good Bye, Waterford
30 - 11 -2025 On Sunday night, I attended the drone show presented by Winterval over the Suir River in Waterford. It was beautiful, captivating, and brief. However, I don’t think it should take me longer to reach an event than the event itself lasts. It took me at least 20 minutes to walk to the quay, and the show only lasted 10 minutes. I was truly surprised when I realized the show had ended, and people were beginning to head home. Reginald’s Tower is a symbol of Waterford,

A Slow Week
23–11-2025 This week brought a much-needed slowdown. I’ve been going full blast to explore as much of Ireland as possible before I leave in just two weeks. On Monday, I attended my class at Trinity College in Dublin. This week, we had a different meeting place, which was quite a hike from my bus stop. As I made my way down Pearce Street, I passed a DHL store. I need a box to ship some items back home, and it looks like I can purchase one at this store. Next Monday, when I’m b

Irish Gale
16 – 11 – 2025 I gave Ireland a chance to challenge my health this week with a quick trip to Wexford, which is about an hour away by bus. I had visited Wexford for lunch a year and a half ago and found it to be a pleasant town. My daughter, Shannon, had told me about the Irish National Heritage Park, which sounded intriguing. On Thursday morning, I caught the bus to Wexford, where the weather was cold and damp, An Irish church from the Middle Ages as it often is this time of

Galway Girls
09-11-2025 This week turned out to be special. My granddaughter Rachel and I went to Galway for a weekend getaway. Since I will be returning home in about three weeks, we realized we only had a short time together before an ocean would separate us. Friday was a bit chaotic. It’s nearly impossible to get from Waterford to Galway without going through Dublin. In fact, getting anywhere in Ireland typically involves a stop in Dublin. I finally decided the easiest route would be f

Miscellaneous
2-November-2025 The last few weeks have been disjointed for me due to illness, which forced me to drop out of my tour of Ireland. Consequently, this blog may also feel a bit scattered, as my plans and actions have lacked continuity. However, things are starting to come together as I make arrangements for my final days in Ireland. I’ll be returning home on December 5th, with my last day in Waterford set for November 29th. I chose to stay in Waterford long enough to enjoy the f

Exhausted and Sick
24-10-2025 After informing my guide that I wouldn’t be continuing the tour due to illness, I lay back to sleep when my phone rang. It was Ciara from Vagabond Tours, checking in on me. I told her I was very tired and just needed to rest. Ciara asked if they should extend my stay in Dingle or help arrange my return home. I explained that my plan was to head back to Dublin to rest in a hotel for a few days before returning to Waterford. I preferred a hotel in Dublin because I co

Wild Atlantic Way
17 October 2025 Sorry I haven’t written sooner, but my life has been very chaotic. I’ll share more about that after we travel part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The Wild Atlantic Way is a scenic route that stretches from County Donegal (Inishowen Peninsula) in the north to County Cork (Kinsale) in the south, covering over 1,600 miles of stunning Irish coastline. Here we go to explore this beautiful region! Aughnanure Castle, which may not look like a typical castle, but according
